DO YOU WANT PEACE OF MIND KNOWING THAT YOUR ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS AND CONDUIT ARE AMONG THE SAFEST CHOICES FOR YOUR PROJECTS?
At Kobrex, OUR PRIORITY is risk reduction, exceeding certification standards while maintaining the highest level of care throughout the manufacturing and delivery of our products.
Kobrex provides a comprehensive solution that addresses your safety concerns with precision. From ensuring that each of our products is backed by certifications to conducting tests in our own and independent laboratories, we continuously strive to exceed our standards.
To provide a deeper understanding of these processes, we spoke with Roberto Cisneros, Engineer in Kobrex’s Engineering Department, who shared his expertise on safety in conduit and electrical conductors.
CAN YOU TELL US WHAT THE MAIN SAFETY RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS AND CONDUIT ARE?
The main risk is FAILING TO FOLLOW EXISTING REGULATIONS FOR INSTALLATION PROCESSES, as well as failing to check operating limits for temperature, voltage, mechanical loads, or other product performance requirements, which are typically described in manufacturers’ catalogs and technical data sheets for the products being installed.
WHY DO KOBREX PRODUCTS PROVIDE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF SAFETY FOR PROJECTS?
Because all our products HAVE PRODUCT CERTIFICATES OR TECHNICAL OPINION LETTERS, renewed annually, which certify compliance with or exceed applicable standards . When required, we also hold specific certifications, such as those issued by CFE or UL. We conduct routine and performance testing at our facilities and periodically send samples to independent external laboratories to ensure impartial and objective results.
WHAT SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS MAKE ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS HIGH QUALITY IN TERMS OF SAFETY?
They are manufactured with high-quality raw materials, including materials that improve performance in fire or emergency operating conditions. They must also meet or exceed the most stringent performance testing requirements.
“HIGH-QUALITY RAW MATERIALS”
ARE THERE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE MEASURES TO PRESERVE THE SAFETY AND FUNCTIONALITY OF CONDUIT AND ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS OVER TIME?
For ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS, it is recommended to check their operating conditions through insulation resistance testing. If they are installed inside conduit, they should also be checked for ground faults.
For CONDUIT, depending on the metal used (steel or aluminum) and the location of the installation, it is recommended to periodically inspect the physical condition of the conduit: ensuring it is free from impacts, deformation, damaged or loose supports, and corrosion.
HOW DO THE DIFFERENT INTERNAL TEAMS WORK TOGETHER TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF KOBREX PRODUCTS?
We have TECHNICAL TEAMS that verify that production processes remain within established engineering parameters. We also have LABORATORIES that conduct the acceptance and routine tests required by applicable standards, as well as a RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY, where new compound raw materials are developed with the goal of achieving above-average performance.
WHAT ARE KOBREX’S NEXT STEPS TO CONTINUE ENHANCING SAFETY?
We are designing, manufacturing, and marketing products with HALOGEN-FREE insulation and jackets, as well as medium-voltage cables with additional protection against smoke generation, toxic gases, and flame propagation.
